These videos will change regularly as the designated Visible Heroes do. So please keep checking in to see who will be our next Visible Hero, and to hear their stories.

It is important to keep telling your stories. Do not go into hiding just because you are ill. Be brave and connect with others who experience what you go through as well. By telling your own story, you help another person to feel less alone. You also help to educate people about the way that ill people experience this life.

If you would like to nominate someone to be featured as a Visible Hero, please send 300 words or less and a link to their video, add subject line as VISIBLE HERO to: info@InvisibleDiseases.com

One of the most severe cases of M.E.

This is Mike’s story. His story is courageous and so extreme. He is still coping with illness, though well enough now to give this heroic statement.  The video cuts off slightly before his final words, but we had to post this courageous man. To read a transcript of his speech, click here.

Meet Laurel

Laurel has bravely created this video, reaching out to the world in order to educate people about ME/CFS. She cannot speak above a whisper, but her ‘voice’ is loudly heard among the Invisible Diseases community. Great job Laurel!

Meniere’s Disease (Vertigo)

If you want to meet someone else who lives with vertigo, then this is the guy to watch! He very honestly takes you through his process, and in the end offers encouraging words of hope. To the thousands of people who have invisible diseases, with accompanying vertigo; his voice is certainly heroic.

Shandy Monte, sings us a Lullaby

Shandy was once a powerhouse performer on the musical theatre stage. Now, she has been stricken with a wicked case of Chronic Lyme Disease. Even still, her spirit shines through her haunting voice in this  rendition of “No One Knows Who I Am” from the musical Jekyll & Hyde. To think that she recorded this while battling illness, still holding onto a dream, and sharing a gift -- now that is heroic!

Marguerite and Mom

Dysautonomia MD, as she’s known on YouTube, believes that her daughter Marguerite has a purpose in the lives of all people who have Invisible Diseases. This video showcases Marguerite’s sweet voice, spreading comfort to all. Her puppy falls asleep on her chest as she sings to us. Have a listen, and see why Marguerite and Dysautonomia MD are Visible Heroes.

Amberlin, the ‘Muddipuppy” girl

Amberlin is nothing less than a true hero, for us all! She and her medical doctor have opted to try experimental medication in the hopes of helping the entire Invisible Diseases community. They do not know the outcome at all. She is brave beyond words. Her artist name is Muddipuppy, and she creates beautiful art for the world as well. ...Our hero!

Shannon Raises Awareness

Shannon is very to-the-point and direct about her loving support of Invisible Diseases. She lives with one herself, in fact. Sometimes, the loudest words are written down. Watch and see what we mean.

Annika’s Diary, with Fibromyalgia

Annika is a lively woman who takes us along her daily struggles and triumphs, while coping with Fibromyalgia. Her pretty little sidekick, Abigail, is a refreshing face to see as well. “Diary of a Black Woman Living with Fibromyalgia” is the title that she gave to her chronicles. Check her out online, and support her heroic efforts of raising awareness and sharing her stories!

95% better, after being bed-bound

This Australian sweetheart is giving her glittery-eyed testimonial of finally feeling better after several years of being confined to her bed, unable to stand in the shower. Natalie is her name, and she is truly a hero for sticking it out and finding a light at the end of her dark struggles. ...Take comfort, and HOPE, in her incredibly happy story. It can happen!

Be a hero to somebody here, now. Leave a comment of encouragement for others who need a heroic word of support. Be brave, and be bold, or be gentle and nurturing. Someone, somewhere needs to hear from you.
